A shadow of criminal activity veiled the last day of the National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland, where a sports card dealer saw a colossal sum of approximately $275,000 vanish from his vehicle on Sunday, July 28.
The unfortunate incident took place at the I-X Center, where the 48-year-old dealer was in the process of loading his SUV post-event. Safeguarded within the confines of the vehicle was a black briefcase sheltering the stolen cash and two iPads. While under the impression that he had securely locked his SUV, the dealer returned to find the briefcase mysteriously absent.
Upon further investigation by Cleveland Police First District detectives, it was revealed that the seemingly discarded briefcase, equipped with an air tag, was eventually discovered on I-X Center premises. However, the heart-wrenching realization struck that the substantial amount of cash that had been nestled within had been extracted without a trace.
The authorities have initiated a search for two suspects who were observed fleeing the crime scene in a blue Honda Odyssey van, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
