Panini America and Professional Fighters League Strike Multi-Year Trading Card Deal

Panini America, a titan in the sports and entertainment collectibles realm, has teamed up with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), a dynamic and rapidly growing sports league. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the arena of MMA trading cards.

The collaboration between Panini and PFL will introduce new and exhilarating products to the market. The inaugural launch will feature Panini Instant, a platform that provides real-time collectibles directly to MMA enthusiasts. Following this debut, PFL Prizm is slated for release later this year, promising to be a standout product in the trading card category.

Jason Howarth, the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Athlete Relations at Panini America, expressed great excitement about this venture. He highlighted the expansive reach and growth of PFL, foreseeing a surge in energy within the MMA trading card sector, which is already a vibrant segment of Panini’s offerings. This partnership aims to deepen fans’ engagement with the sport by offering exclusive Panini products showcasing PFL athletes and events.

Bryan Calka, the Chief Commercial Officer of PFL, echoed this enthusiasm, recognizing Panini America’s leadership in the collectibles industry. He emphasized PFL’s dedication to providing valuable and premium experiences to MMA fans worldwide, experiences that are expected to be elevated through this collaboration with Panini.

One innovative aspect of this partnership is the introduction of digital trading card collectibles, including NFTs, catering to the evolving preferences of collectors embracing digital formats alongside traditional physical cards.

The timing of this collaboration is significant, coinciding with the start of the second half of the 2024 Global Season for PFL on June 13 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The season will progress with events in Salt Lake City and South Dakota, with athletes from six weight classes vying for playoff spots and the coveted title of PFL World Champion, along with a $1 million prize.

PFL’s distinctive approach in the MMA landscape includes following a sports-season format akin to major league sports, with fighters competing in regular season matches, playoffs, and a championship. The league’s innovation shines through technologies like SmartCage, supporting advanced fight analytics and enhancing the viewing experience. PFL’s global expansion efforts include ventures like PFL Europe and PFL MENA.

Panini America, a subsidiary of the renowned Panini Group headquartered in Italy, boasts over sixty years of experience in the collectibles industry and holds substantial partnerships across various sports and entertainment domains. With its extensive global presence and robust distribution network, Panini ensures that PFL trading cards will reach a broad audience, amplifying the visibility and allure of both brands in the collectibles market.

This collaboration between Panini America and the Professional Fighters League is poised to reshape the realm of sports memorabilia, blending innovation with the exhilarating universe of MMA. Fans can anticipate a diverse array of collectibles celebrating the sport’s dynamism and its remarkable athletes.
